Verbdieting
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Dieting is the practice of ingesting food in a regulated fashion to achieve or maintain a controlled weight. In most cases the goal is weight loss in those who are overweight or obese, but some athletes aspire to gain weight (usually in the form of muscle) and diets can also be used to maintain a stable body weight. Diets to promote weight loss are generally divided into four categories: low-fat, low-carbohydrate, low-calorie, and very low calorie. A meta-analysis of six randomized controlled trials found no difference between the main diet types (low calorie, low carbohydrate, and low fat), with a 2–4 kilogram weight loss in all studies. At two years all diet types cause equal weight loss irrespective of the macronutrients emphasized. From Wikipedia under the

Q. I need to lose like 8kg (18lb) and i've tried cutting out chocolate and eating proper meals at the right times but it hasn't really worked!! Can anyone help me or give me a link to a GOOD diet that is free and actually works? I want it to be realistic if that makes sence!! Asked by Arwen - Mon Feb 26 13:20:08 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Start counting your calories. You might be eating proper meals at the right times, but you still might be overeating. Start counting your calories (measuring out your serving sizes), and figure out what's going on. The good news is that with calorie counting, on especially good days, you will know whether you can work in a piece of chocolate or two and not feel guilty. I know a girl who has been dieting since she was 13 and still is (she's probably around 15 now). What are the chances of her getting an eating disorder? I've heard that like 86% of girls who diet at that age end up with one, is that true? What statistics do you have/know? I really would like to warn her parents, especially since they see nothing wrong with her behavior. I'm not sure if she's throwing up in a bathroom or anything like that, but she definately is watching what she is eating, eating foods marked "low carb", keeping track of how many pounds she has lost, and exercises for the benefit of weight loss. Also looks like she could use a vitamin if you know what I mean.. Thanks to all who help. Q. I've never been a fan of running or dieting, but I have tried my hand at weight lifting and I seem to like it. Are there are any exercises known to really burn fat around your mid-section? Am I asking the obvious (answer: sit-ups)? Thanks for your help. Answers from professionals appreciated! Asked by Matt Humberto - Wed Jun 6 21:25:40 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. sit ups will tone the ab muscles, and the more muscle in your body the faster your metabolism (thus the more calories you burn, even at rest) but if you have a layer of fat over your abs, the only way to get rid of that is to reduce calorie intake or exerise (preferably both). To lose weight (burn fat) you must consume fewer calories than you burn. You need to burn 3500 more calories than you consume to burn 1 pound of fat... Alas you can target tone (muscle) but not target burn fat. I wish ya could, because I've got saddlebags on my thighs I'd LOVE to focus on!
